A beautiful project!

My daughter had an assignment for class to make a scrapbook from the perspective of someone who lived in the 20s - she chose Georgia O'Keeffe as the person. We selected Basic Grey's Ambrosia papers because they have a beautiful art deco look to them. Here's what she came up with! (I'm very proud) - and she got a score of 49/50 on this. The only boo-boo I can see is that we misspelled the name on the title page. She had to research the life of Georgia O'Keefe as well as things that were happening in the 1920s - she also had to incorporate 20s slang -- and pull all of that into a scrapbook format, with very little direction. Here's what she made.

NYC Weekend

I joined Larry in NYC for the weekend. It all started with a Vamoose bus trip from Arlington to Manhattan. The bus experienced some difficulties and we had to stop somewhere in NJ. Luckily we weren't sidetracked too long! Another bus arrived and we hopped on - only about 45 minutes late. Larry met me with roses (very sweet!). We dumped the bags and headed to the upper east side to the String yarn store. (http://www.stringyarns.com/) The proprietor of the shop is a former executive with AMS (where I worked for a long time!). If you like knitting -- and especially if you like knitting with really gorgeous yarn -- check out their online store.

After that we went to Brooklyn to the Brooklyn brewery where they serve beer on Friday nights - yum! After some beer, Larry felt like BBQ - we went to some place where they serve the bbq by the pound on cookie sheets (it was good too!).

Saturday night was a really nice evening (Valentine's Day). We participated in a beer and chocolate tasting at Jimmy's No. 43 - East Village (I think). The chocolate was interesting - it is organic and stone ground. Check out their site at http://www.tazachocolate.com/.

We also went to Broadway - we saw William H. Macy in Speed-the-Plow. Followed by a trip to the Blind Tiger (another beer bar) - and then a really good Italian dinner.

In addition to the yarn, Broadway, and beer, we also took in both MoMA and The Met. I especially enjoyed the Impressionists and Cubist paintings. The picture below was taken at The Met - I forgot to write down the artist, but I felt that this art bore a lot of similarity to some of my scrapbooking - it's really more collage!

Valentines Day Cards

I'm trying to catch up - so much to do! I made Valentines cards from the Basic Grey Kit - this paper is absolutely gorgeous! Donna Kauffman (instructor at Angela's Happy Stamper) told us that Basic Grey is coming out with some beautiful new papers in the next few months - and they all come with card kits - I can't wait!

I got a little sidetracked from my project 365 project - but am almost back on track. Check out Week 4 at my IRW blog. http://judy20171.irememberwhen.com/enUS/BBHome/default.html
